Yesterday I was at a seminar on Francis Bacon, which produced another couple of connections to Fulci's A Lizard in a Woman's Skin:

The first painting looks similar if not the same as the one that The Joker (Jack Nicholson) keeps his goons from destroying in the 1989 film "Batman."
The painting saved in "Batman" is the first painting of Bacon's take on Pope Innocent X
